The holidays, while varying in nature, are consistent in the pleasure and richness that they add to the already fascinating culture of Rome. Beginning at the very beginning of the year there are traditional celebrations on January first. After the previous nights celebrations, New Years Day is a fun filled event with a parade which goes along the via della Conciliazione and finishes at St. Peters Square where the Pope gives his New Year blessings for all.

The Festa di San Giovanni – each year on and around June 24th the citizens of Rome celebrate the birth of John the Baptist. The celebrations are fabulous and sexy. High spots include firework displays and the procession of all members of the Clergy in Rome through the roads of the town. There are a number of traditions linked with this event which may be of deep meaning to Catholic visitors and of cultural interest to other.

Estate Romana holiday – Held yearly between June and October, the state Romana holiday sees varied locations round the city host a selection of sorts of entertainment including jazz concerts, rock concerts and classical music concerts. There is also a range of sports events, film and theatre spectacles as well as children’s activities implying that this truly is a festival for all the family.
